As part of MOE staff well-being programme under OLive, Ministry of Education Sports and Recreation Club (MESRC) will launch a fitness challenge platform, entitled ‘MOE Pacer Steps Challenge 2020’ to encourage MOE staff to keep fit as part of their healthy lifestyle which can also be done through home-based exercises. Please note that this is MOE Own Steps Challenge not the ‘National Steps Challenge 2020’. Staff are encouraged to participate in this challenge – Move more and sit less!

In view of the current COVID-19 situation, Ministry of Education Sports and Recreation Club (MESRC) will not be organizing the 13 th MOE OLive Run 2021. As an alternative, MESRC will be organizing the ‘OLive Steps Challenge for Charity 2021’ from 1 April 2021 to 31 May 2021 to raise funds for the President’s Challenge.

Participants who achieved the set criteria of 250,000 steps within the 2-month qualifying period, will have an award of $20.00 which will be donated on their behalf to the President’s Challenge.

In view of the current COVID-19 situation, Ministry of Education Sports and Recreation Club (MESRC) will not be organizing the 14th MOE OLive Run 2022. As a replacement, MESRC will be organizing the ‘OLive Steps Challenge for Charity 2022 Season 2’  from 1 May 2022 to 30 June 2022 to raise funds for the President’s Challenge.

Incentives award will be given to participants who meet the set criteria for 360,000 steps within the 2-month qualifying period.

The Sports for Life (SFL) Fitness Assessment (Walk or Run Test) will not be organised this year in view of the current Covid situation. As a replacement, MESRC is organising the Sports for Life Million Steps Challenge (SFLMSC) 2021 Season 2 from 18 July 2021 to 25 October 2021 (100-Day Challenge). We leverage on the Pacer App to motivate staff to increase their physical activity on an individual basis and develop a healthy lifestyle.

The SFLMSC 2021 Season 2 is complemented by the MOE Healthy Lifestyle Incentive Award (HLIA) Scheme. Incentives award will be given to participants who meet the set criteria for 1 million steps, 800K steps and 600K steps during the 100-day qualifying period.

After participants have completed their registration via FormSG, an email notification on “OLive Steps Challenge For Charity 2022 Season 2 Step-by-Step Guide will automatically be sent to participants with instruction on how to download a Step Tracker (Pacer) from their mobile phone and to join ‘OLive Steps Challenge For Charity 2022 Season 2 Step-by-Step Guidevia Challenge Code to complete the registration process for this Step Challenge. Pacer app can be used on iPhone and Android Phone.

For New and Existing Participants, please ensure that your Pacer App is the latest version (compatible with iPhone and Android phones).

MESRC is currently conducting a trial to synchronise participants' fitness activities (e.g. steps count) from various mobile application on both IOS and Android.  We are targeting to retrieve the daily steps from Pacer, Fitbit and Google Fit.  

The goal of this trial is to test the reliability and efficiency of each mobile app provider. We will based on the results of the trail to decide how we would proceed with future step challenges.

Take note that the steps obtained during this trial will NOT be used for the current  Sports for Life Million Steps Challenge (SFL MSC). The steps for the SFL MSC will be automatically retrieved from Pacer via the backend system directly from Pacer.

  • Please login first to connect to Google Fit, Fitbit and Pacer. (Do try all 3 apps if you can).
  • Once, connected your steps will initially be synchronised from 1st Nov 2020. 
  • After that, steps from the day before will be automatically synchronised by 8.00am daily.
  • All steps must be obtained from the mobile phone sensor or synchronised to the mobile app by external fitness trackers. Manual input by users will not be counted.

Each eligible staff is allowed to claim a one-time subsidy of $60.00 nett for their staycation from 1 October 2022 to 31 December 2022 on a first-come, first served basis at any of the appointed hotels and resorts.

Steps will be tracked through Pacer on your smartphone, so make sure to grab your phone to track every step and stay at the top of the Leader board.

The Data Centre Tab in Pacer app will always allow you to see today’s steps, yesterday’s steps, and average steps month to date for everyone in the challenge.

NOTE:

  • Remember to launch Pacer every 1-2 days to ensure your challenge activity data is up to date by clicking into the app for it to sync your steps and push out the data of steps which you had clocked.
  • You are responsible to sync your steps; otherwise, you may lose your step count after 7 days.
  • Steps will be tracked through Pacer on your smartphone, so make sure to carry your phone to track every step.

 

All full-time employees of Ministry of Education (MOE) can participate in this Steps Challenge except staff from Independent or Specialised Schools, NIE trainees, MOE Seconded staff, MESRC Associate and Corporate members.

No. Each staff is only allowed to claim a one-time subsidy for their staycation on a first-come, first-served basis at any of the appointed hotels and resorts. Upon reservation, staff should clearly indicate in their email to the hotel or resort if they have utilised the claim before in the other appointed hotels.

  • Registration is Free; however, registration is limited to 4,000 participants who successfully registered in the MESRC registration portal.
  • Early bird registration for first 2,700 participants will be entitled to MOE OLive Run T-shirts.

If you had somehow login with a wrong account (i.e. a different pacer account from the one you are using to clock the steps), you will need to clear your browser's cache and login again. The pacer web app does not provide a link to allow you back to login screen. Clearing your browser's cache is the only way for now until Pacer can fix this bug on their end.

All reservations will be via hotel or resort coordinator or central reservation link for staff to make the booking. More details are printed on each flyer.

  • MESRC will notify the 2,700 early bird registered participants via email to collect their MOE OLive Run T-shirts at MESRC office.
  • All eligible recipients of MOE Pacer Steps Challenge 2020 will be notified via email of their rewards for the $10 HPB eVoucher if they meet the Total Steps of 200,000 within the 2-months qualifying period. Users should not frequently switched data source between Pacer app on phone and wearable devices with Pacer (Fitbit, Apple health, Garmin, etc.). Steps record inaccuracy will occur, and your steps will be recounted.

Also, please do not switch from phone to phone as your total clocked steps will be lost in transition and unrecoverable.

No. The booking under your name is not transferable to another person.

    • Steps will be tracked through Pacer on your smartphone, so make sure to grab your phone to track every step and stay at the top of the Leaderboard.
    • The Data Centre Tab in Pacer app will always allow you to see today’s steps, yesterday’s steps, and average steps month to date for everyone in the challenge.
    • Remember to launch Pacer every 1-2 days to ensure your challenge activity data is up to date.

  • HPB eVouchers are electronic vouchers issued in Singapore currency, and issued in $10 denominations.

For the 6-month premium, your Subscription account will automatically cancel once the expiry is up. 

For users who are unable to join the premium account even after keying in the promo code, they could already be subscribed to the premium account as they had joined our past event (i.e. Sports for Life Million Steps Challenge 2021 Season 2). Once their current subscription account expires, they should be able to key in the new promo code and reactivate their free 6-month premium account again.

No, Ordinary Sick Leave (OSL) is not a requirement for staff to qualify for the incentives award.

Yes, new staff are eligible, but they must have a temp pass issued by MOE with “MOE” sticker on it. Staff must be prepared to show letter of appointment from HR just in case verification is required.

All eligible recipients of Sports for Life Million Steps Challenge 2021 Season 2 will be notified via email for successful completion of this Steps Challenge.

Similar to the MOE Healthy Lifestyle Incentive Award Scheme disbursement, MESRC will submit the eligible recipients’ data to AST for payment processing via VITAL for awards pay-outs within FY2021 (i.e. January/February 2022 payment).

Staff who qualify for this incentives award will be receiving the monetary incentive (credited into their salary) by January/February 2022.

Yes. If husband and wife are both MOE staff, they are eligible for a $120 off from final bill provided there are two bookings made under two individual staff names. Husband and wife must book separately to enjoy $60 subsidy. If they wish to stay for 2 nights at the same hotel or resort using the $60 subsidy x 2 staff eligibility, they need to inform the hotel or resort in advance to arrange the stay at the same room even though booking is under 2 staff names. If they book for one-night stay, only one $60 is applicable

Yes. Multiple reservations by MOE staff on different dates are allowed. No, you can’t, if you wish to reserve a few passes for your school / division usage, kindly get the required number of staffs to make the reservation accordingly.  MESRC Corporate passes are limited and to ensure fair practice, no special request will be entertained.

When such incidents happen, action will be taken to blacklist the unauthorized user for one year from booking the Corporate Passes.  For repeat offenders, MESRC would blacklist them completely from booking of Corporate Passes as this is a cheating offence.

MOE had implemented car park charges for all MOE HQ off-sites locations effective from 1 April 2016.  As such, please note that User who booked MESRC facilities (Lounge, Function Room or Outdoor Gazebo) at Evans Road Clubhouse for official or private functions will need to pay for the car park charges.  There are 15 visitor lots at MOE (Evans Rd) for visitor to park on a first-come-first served basis. As there are limited parking at MOE (Evans Road), you may wish to advise your guests to park at NUS (Bukit Timah) Campus, Canopy area and in the carpark opposite MOE Evans Road’s entrance. Visitors may like to consider other forms of transport besides driving.

No, members are not required to pay any subscription or membership fee, unless you are a retiree or a corporate member. The club is funded by the Ministry of Education as part of the Staff wellbeing for its employees.

MOE personnel in MOE HQ and schools (teaching and non-teaching staff) whose payroll is under Ministry of Education automatically become a member of the club once they join the service except contract or flexible adjunct staff.
